Updates

I am sorry it has been two months since my last post. A ton has been going on, and now that everything is official, I can make mention of it here. Due to a transfer at my company, my wife and I are moving to The Woodlands, TX, a community 30 miles directly north of Houston. My new position will be greatly involved with IT project management. Due to all business due to the move, I have had and will have little time to post anything of substance. I hope to pick back up after June 10th or so.

Before I mention the prayer request for my wife and I, I wanted to make mention of a few prayer requests for some friends, and some folks that I do not personally know:

  • Pray for Sam Seidel. About four weeks ago, this little boy fell into a pool and was underwater for 15+ minutes. He still is recovering...
  • Pray for Patsy Parker. She has been in and out of the hospital for the last several months, with surgeries. She still has a long road ahead.
  • Pray for my friend's (Brian Daniel) mother, she has cancer and is going through a round of chemotherapy.
  • Pray for Maggie Liner, our friends Marja and Shawn daughter. The family is changing houses, and Maggie has started day-care and has been struggling with staying well. Nothing severe or life-threatening--she just hasn't been able to get to 100%.

For me and Laura, pray that the transition goes well, that we sell our current home and get the contract on a house on which we have placed an offer, and that Laura is offered a job in a nearby school district, either Klein, Spring, Tomball, or Conroe. Lastly, and most importantly, please pray that we find a solid, biblical church that has strong preaching and fellowship.

God will certainly take care of the small stuff . . . dont' forget all the ways he has prepared the way for you guys in Houston . . . starting when he sent me 5 years ago :-D

When I think back Brent, I remember the things that were going on 5 years ago as we both left LSU: You were entering Seminary stressing over direction/career and relatioships . . . I was moving to Houston stressing over loneliness and distance from friends/family (which is perpetual).

My how God has moved in both of our lives since then. What oh what does he have in store for the future . . . ? I know one thing for SURE. 2007 is a year of change (that started as early as New Years Eve for Me, hehe) . . . And, with newfound perspective and excitement, I'm soo looking forward to the Changes that he's bringing!

Brent, may God bless the people in your prayer requests with great grace and mercy in Christ.

I was directed here to read your months-old discussion of Exist-Dissolve's epistemology, as he has shown up my blog in the last several weeks, obviously itching to mix it up, and I've finally obliged him. Your posts have helped me greatly. God bless you and yours.

Good luck working at corporate and moving away from the plant world. I hope working for Rich will be good for you. He is a smart man and is skilled in the politics of the corporate world. Keep your guard up and your wits about you. You may not find as many Godly people in the Woodlands building as you did at the plant. Wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove or something like that. You are definitely movin on up and congratulations! I am hanging in there. I hit a emotional wall about a month ago and could not hold it together. But now I am much better and I am seeing a Christian couseler. I know God is preparing me for something or proving to me that I am capable of much more or He is simply making me depend upon Him more. Oh no! Just when I get back to south Louisiana, you are moving to (the evil) Texas? You'll like the Woodlands though, it is very "posh"...unless you think that consumerism is poison to the mind and soul...

Just found your blog while on lunch at work. I know what you mean about moving to a new place and looking for a church home. My wife and I moved to nasvhville almost 2 years ago. It took a little while to find a good church and get settled in. I look forward to reading future postings on your blog.

Hey Brent, I ran across your blog today. I don't know if you still check this or not, but I'd like to get your info and contact you. I was looking at a picture on our dresser yesterday. It was the one of a bunch of people at the reception for our wedding and I thought, "Man, I really need to catch up with some of these folks." And, you were front and center.
